Assistant Director, Senior Chief Musician(SW) Guy Gregg

Senior Chief Musician Guy L. Gregg, a native of Phoenix, Arizona enlisted in the United States Navy in May of 1993 and attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon graduation of Recruit Training, he attended Musician A School in Norfolk, Virginia and later reported to the Pacific Fleet Band in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where he served as Trumpet Instrumentalist.

 

In July of 1997, Senior Chief Gregg reported to the SEVENTH Fleet Band in Yokosuka, Japan and served as a trumpet instrumentalist and Leading Petty Officer for the popular music group Orient Express. He toured extensively throughout far east Asia on numerous platforms, including the SEVENTH Fleet flagship USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19). In September of 2002, he returned to the Pacific Fleet Band in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and served as the unit leader of numerous small ensembles and as the Command Leading Petty Officer.

 

His next tour duty took him to the Unit Leader Course at the School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia. Upon graduation in April of 2008, he reported to the U.S. Naval Forces Europe Band in Naples, Italy where he was soon promoted to Chief Petty Officer. His duties included Leading Chief Petty Officer, Operations Coordinator, and Chief Petty Officer in charge of numerous ensembles touring throughout Europe, Africa and Asia.

 

In June 2011 before departing Naples Italy, he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer and later returned to Musician C school for instruction at the Senior Musician Course. In May of 2012, Senior Chief Gregg reported to the U.S. Fleet Forces Band in Norfolk, VA for duty as Leading Chief Petty Officer. In September of 2012, he graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 168 (Purple group).

 

Senior Chief Gregg is currently stationed in Yokosuka, Japan and is serving as the Assistant Director and Senior Enlisted Leader for the SEVENTH Fleet Band. Senior Chief Gregg holds a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Excelsior College. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards) and numerous unit and campaign decorations. Senior Chief Gregg resides in Yokosuka, Japan with his wife Yoko, son Kazu, and daughter Kiana.
