Lt. Robert “Jeff” Wrenn hails from
Calabash, North Carolina where he entered Naval service in October
of 1988. After completing Musician "A" School, Armed Forces School
of Music, Little Creek, VA, he was assigned to the CINCSOUTH Band in
Naples, Italy where he served as saxophone instrumentalist,
guitarist and vocalist.
Subsequent shore assignments included Navy Band New Orleans and the
Atlantic Fleet Band in Norfolk, Va. He also served on sea duty with
the SEVENTH Fleet Band in Yokosuka, Japan where he was promoted to
Chief Petty Officer in September of 1999. His deployments there
included: CARAT 1996 and 2000 onboard the USS GEORGE PHILIP (FFG 12)
and USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42); and Southern Swing 1997 and 1998
onboard the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19).
He was commissioned on September 1, 2002; his first assignment as a
Limited Duty Officer (Bandmaster) was Assistant Director of the
United States Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, MD. While there he
conducted the Concert Band, the Ceremonial Band on historic Worden
Field, and served as Assistant Officer Representative for the USNA
Drum & Bugle Corps. In January 2005 he returned to New Orleans as
Director, Navy Band New Orleans and then reported to PERS-4014 in
Millington, TN June 2007 serving as the Deputy/Assistant Head of the
Navy Music Program and temporary duty as Band Support Officer at the
Navy Office of Community Outreach (NAVCO). LT Wrenn returned to
Yokosuka, Japan in June 2008 where he currently serves as Fleet
Bandmaster, SEVENTH Fleet.
Lieutenant Wrenn is a graduate of the Armed Forces School of Music
Section Leader Course; Ceremonial Conductor/Drum Major Course; and
Assistant Director Course; he also holds Bachelor Degrees in Music
and Business Administration. His awards include the Defense
Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (five awards),
Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), Good Conduct
Medal (four awards) and others. |
