HONG KONG (April 28, 2008) – USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) anchors in Victoria Harbor for a port visit to Hong Kong April 28. Kitty Hawk and Carrier Air Wing 5 arrived for a port visit which will give Sailors an opportunity to take advantage of Hong Kong's shopping and cultural attractions. Also arriving as part of Kitty Hawk’s carrier strike group was USS Shiloh (CG 67), USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54), USS Lassen (DDG 82) and USS Stethem (DDG 63). This is Kitty Hawk’s last port visit into a foreign country before she is replaced in the summer by USS George Washington (CVN 73). Kitty Hawk operates from Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan.
ABOARD USS HARPERS FERRY (Apr. 25, 2008) -- A MH-53E "Sea Dragon" helicopter from Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron FOURTEEN (HM-14) orbits in the vicinity while another MH-53E prepares to take-off from the flight deck of the dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49). Harpers Ferry is currently undergoing unit level training assessment-certification (ULTRA-C). An ULTRA-C certification shows a ship's competency in fire fighting, anchoring, small boat attack and various other items evaluated by assessors from Afloat Training Group (ATG).
