SASEBO, Japan (April 14, 2011) - Sailors man the rails as the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) pulls in to Fleet Activities Sasebo. Essex, commanded by Capt. David Fluker, is returning to Sasebo after completing a three-month patrol of the Western Pacific, which included disaster relief operations in Japan.
