A native of Quinnesec, Michigan,
Command Master Chief Tyler Schoeppey enlisted in the Navy in 1988
and served as an Electronics Warfare Technician prior to his
selection as a Command Master Chief. He is a graduate of the United
States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 109/Khaki), the Command
Master Chief Course (Class 25), National Defense University’s
Keystone Course (2007-2), and the Naval Postgraduate School’s Navy
Senior Leader Seminar (2011-5). Additionally, he earned a Bachelor
of Business Administration Degree from the University of Management
and Technology, Arlington, Virginia.
His sea tours were USS O’Brien (DD 975), USS Bunker Hill (CG 52),
USS O’Brien (DD 975), and USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54). He was
selected as a Command Master Chief during his sea tour at Commander,
Carrier Strike Group Five, permanently embarked USS Kitty Hawk (CV
63). Subsequently he served as Command Master Chief of USS
Fitzgerald (DDG 62), where the ship earned the 2007 Marjorie
Sterrett Battleship Fund Award recognizing the most battle ready
ship in the United States Pacific Fleet and the Destroyer Squadron
15 Battle Effectiveness Award (Battle E) in both 2007 and 2008. Most
recently he served as Task Force Master Chief for Patrol and
Reconnaissance Force Fifth/Seventh Fleet (Task Force 57-72)/ Fleet
Air Forward, where he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for
forces engaged in Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom, and
Enduring Freedom – Philippines.
Ashore, he served at Surface Combat Systems Center, Wallops Island,
Virginia, and as a Recruit Division Commander and Ship’s Leading
Chief Petty Officer at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes,
Illinois.
He assumed duties as the United States Seventh Fleet Master Chief in
July 2010.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and
Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps
Achievement Medal (five awards) and numerous campaign and unit
awards.
