YOKOSUKA, Japan - Sailors and civilians from the cyber community gathered during the Commander U.S. 7th Fleet 2018 Cybersecurity & Communications Symposium at the Fleet Theater on Yokosuka Naval Base, which took place Jan. 29 through Feb. 2, 2018.
The four-day symposium focused on the Navy's increased role in cyberspace and beyond.
During the Commander U.S. 7th Fleet Cybersecurity & Communications Symposium, leadership and subject matter experts from Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR), SPAWAR, NAVSEA, and various tenant commands shared information from several areas of expertise ranging from network security, cryptological /signal intelligence, to information operations, cyber, electronic warfare, and space capabilities that will help strengthen the cyber community across the waterfront, and in the region.
NAVIFOR's mission is to support operational commanders ashore and afloat by providing combat-ready information warfare forces, which are forward deployable, fully trained, properly manned, capably equipped, always ready, well maintained and combat sustainable.
Commander U.S. 7th Fleet hosted the symposium to educate the fleet on new developments and to discuss solutions to common challenges specific to our area of operations while providing an opportunity for the Information Warfare TYCOM and other stakeholders to receive real-time feedback.
