Ronald Reagan Strike Group, JMSDF Participate in Cooperative Deployment

PHILIPPINE SEA (October 9, 2018) The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and the helicopter destroyer JS Izumo (DDH 183) sail alongside each other during a cooperative deployment. Ronald Reagan is forward-deployed to the U.S. 7th fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

SOUTH CHINA SEA—A rigid-hulled, inflatable boat deployed off the USNS Wally Schirra (T-AKE 8) circles a distressed and adrift boat in the South China Sea, Oct. 8. Five Filipino fishermen survived for five days aboard a makeshift boat after their fishing boat sank at sea and they were rescued by the crew of USNS Wally Schirra.

Decatur Renders Assistance to Sri Lankan Fishermen

INDIAN OCEAN (Oct. 7, 2018) A Sri Lankan fisherman jumps and swims to a rigid-hull inflatable boat (RHIB) from the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Decatur (DDG 73) after the ship stopped to render assistance to a stranded fishing vessel. After providing food and water, Decatur contacted the Sri Lankan authorities who came and towed the stranded vessel back to port. Decatur is forward deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
