USS Theodore Roosevelt Arrives in Manila

MANILA, Republic of the Philippines (April 11, 2018) The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) anchors off the coast of Manila, Republic of the Philippines for a scheduled port visit. Theodore Roosevelt is deployed in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.

Phil Sawyer, commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, forefront, visits Togo-tei, the official residence of former Japanese Imperial Navy admiral Togo Heihachiro as a guest of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Vice Adm. Kazuki Yamashita left, commandant of the JMSDF Yokosuka District and Vice Adm. Takehisa Nakao, commandant of the Maizuru District. Sawyer visited the Maizuru district headquarters in Kyoto to reinforce 7th Fleet’s close, long-standing partnership with the JMSDF throughout Japan.
