7th Fleet Sailor selected as junior Intel officer of the year (Afloat)

Lt. Jason Figgeroa, a native of Waipahu, Hawaii, assigned to Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, was named the Rear Admiral Thomas A. Brooks Intelligence Junior Officer of the Year (Afloat). 7th Fleet, which celebrates its 75th year in 2018, spans more than 124 million square kilometers, stretching from the International Date Line to the India/Pakistan border; and from the Kuril Islands in the North to the Antarctic in the South.
Benfold Celebrates Memorial Day with Promotion Ceremony

Ens. Maria Sigmore is promoted to lieutenant junior grade on Memorial Day the flight deck of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65). Benfold frocked 38 Sailors to the next paygrade and promoted 6 officers to lieutenant junior grade on Memorial Day while underway. Benfold is forward-deployed to the U.S. 7th fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

YOKOSUKA, Japan (May 29, 2018) -- USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) departs U.S. Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Yokosuka, May 29. FLEACT Yokosuka provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of the 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and more than 27,000 military and civilian personnel.

YOKOSUKA, Japan (May 22, 2018) Machinist's Mate 3nd Class Leonard Barnes inserts a lit torch into a boiler aboard the U.S. 7th Fleet Flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19). This is the first time in nearly two years Blue Ridge has had her boilers lit and is steaming under her own power following an extended selected restricted availability. Blue Ridge has entered a final upkeep and training phase in preparation to become fully mission capable for operations.

Flag level staff talks are a forum for senior leaders to analyze the previous year’s engagements and present opportunity for growth. Almost 60 Sailors and Marines from U.S. 7th Fleet staff are currently embarked on USNS Millinocket (T-EPF 3) as part of a U.S. 7th Fleet theater security cooperation patrol and will visit several countries in the Indo-Pacific in the coming weeks.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) arrives at the forward-deployed port of Yokosuka, Japan, to join the 7th Fleet as part of Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15. Milius increases Commander, Task Force 70’s ability to promote security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region as one of the most capable ships in the Navy.
