EOD Mobile Unit Five Conducts an HVBSS Drill in the Indo-Pacific

190625-N-RF825-1145 SOUTH CHINA SEA — Sailors from Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 5 attached to Commander Task Force (CTF) 70 conduct Helicopter Vertical Board Search and Seizure (HVBSS) training operations aboard USS McCampbell (DDG 85). CTF 70 is forward-deployed to the U.S. Seventh Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific Region.

Michael Rovinsky, officer in charge of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133, place flowers on Seabee Betty’s grave during the Seabee Betty Day memorial celebration. Seabee Betty died June 9, 2003 and was interred June 20, 2003. In 2004, the governor of Guam declared June 20 to be Seabee Betty Day to honor the more than 50 years of dedicated service to the Seabee community on Guam.

This year marks the 25th iteration of CARAT, a multinational exercise series designed to enhance U.S. and partner navies' abilities to operate together in response to traditional and non-traditional maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
