17th SEACAT Exercise Kicks-Off with 9 Nations

Members of the Philippine Naval Special Operations Group approach USNS Millinocket (T-EPF 3) while participating in Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) training during South East Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) 2017 in waters off the coast of Puerto Princesa, Philippines, Aug. 30.  2017 is the 16th annual SEACAT exercise and includes participants from the U.S. Coast Guard and Coast Guards and Coastal Patrol Agencies from the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

WASP ARG Conducts PASSEX with JMSDF

The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), along with the transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20), dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), and Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86), sail alongside the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) amphibious transport dock ship JS Osumi (LST 4001) during a Passing Exercise (PASSEX) in the Philippine Sea Aug. 26, 2018. PASSEX enabled the Wasp ARG and the JMSDF a chance to practice communications and maneuvering procedures, and enhance combined amphibious capabilities. The Wasp ARG is currently operating in the region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.

San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) transits the Pacific Ocean during Talisman Saber 2017. As part of the U.S. 3rd Fleet Forward construct, Vice Adm. Nora Tyson, commander of U.S. 3rd Fleet, and staff are embarked on Anchorage in support of the exercise. Talisman Saber is a biennial exercise designed to improve the interoperability between Australian and U.S. forces.

CARAT Malaysia in its 24th iteration, is designed to enhance information sharing and coordination, build mutual warfighting capability and support long-term regional cooperation enabling both partner armed forces to operate effectively together as a unified maritime force.
