SEA OF JAPAN (June 1, 2017) The guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) sails in formation during a bilateral exercise between USS Carl Vinson and USS Ronald Reagan carrier strike groups and the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). The Ronald Reagan and Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Groups conduct maritime training operations with Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force ships, JS Hyuga (DDH 181) and JS Ashigara (DDG178). USS Sterett Sailors Build Relationships in China

Sailors assigned to Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104) practice tying knots together before a seamanship competition with People’s Liberation Army (Navy) (PLAN) sailors during the ship’s scheduled port visit to Zhanjiang, China. Sterett is part of the Sterett-Dewey Surface Action Group and is the third deploying group operating under the command and control construct called 3rd Fleet Forward, June 14, 2017.
