Pacific Partnership Celebrates Arrival in Micronesia

CHUUK, Federated States of Micronesia (April 13, 2019) Royal Navy Capt. Paddy Allen, director of mission, speaks during the opening ceremony aboard the Military Sealift Command expeditionary fast transport ship USNS Brunswick (T-EPF 6) during Pacific Partnership 2019. Pacific Partnership, now in its 14th iteration, is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. Each year, the mission team works collectively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities, increase stability and security in the region, and foster new and enduring friendships in the Indo-Pacific.

SUBIC BAY, Philippines (March 30, 2019) Sailors man the rails aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) as the ship arrives in Subic Bay, Philippines in support of Exercise Balikatan. Exercise Balikatan, in its 35th iteration, is an annual U.S., Philippine military training exercise focused on a variety of missions, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, counter-terrorism, and other combined military operations.
NMCB 133 Conducts Demolition Training with Air Force Counterparts

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam (April 9, 2019) Debris from an explosion fills the air during joint quarry operations conducted by Sailors assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 (NMCB) and Airmen assigned to 554th Red Horse Squadron at Anderson Air Force Base’s quarry. NMCB conducted the demolition in order to maintain proficiency in blast operations that support construction and repair efforts in the region. NMCB-133, provides expeditionary construction and engineering capabilities that includes maintenance and operation of expeditionary bases and facilities, tactical sustainment bridging, humanitarian assistance through construction civic action details and civic action teams and theater disaster response capabilities in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
HSC-25 Rescues Two From Sunken Watercraft

GUAM (Apr. 11, 2019) Naval Aircrewman (Helicopter) 1st Class William Medlin lowers Naval Aircrewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class Robert Washington, both assigned to the “Island Knights” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25, to rescue two local spear fishermen after their personal watercraft sank off the east coast of Guam. HSC-25 provides a multi-mission rotary wing capability for units in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations and maintains a Guam-based 24-hour search-and-rescue and medical evacuation capability, directly supporting U.S. Coast Guard and Joint Region Marianas. HSC-25 is the Navy’s only forward-deployed MH-60S expeditionary squadron.
U.S. Navy Submarine Hosts Royal Thai Navy Dignitaries During Exercise Guardian Sea

ANDAMAN SEA (April 8, 2019) The crew of Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Louisville hosts a group of Royal Thai Navy sailors led by Vice Adm. Chareonpol Koomrasi, Chief of Staff of the RTN Fleet, and Capt. Matt Jerbi, commodore of Destroyer Squadron 7 during Exercise Guardian Sea. Guardian Sea is a U.S. Navy and RTN anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise is designed to strengthen interoperability and reinforce procedures for tracking submarines in a variety of conditions.
7th Fleet Flagship, USS Blue Ridge, Returns to Malaysia

KOTA KINABALU, Malaysia (April 11, 2019) - U.S. 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) arrives for a port visit in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, to engage in local culture, host military-to-military engagements and build relationships with the local community. Blue Ridge is the oldest operational ship in the Navy, and as 7th Fleet command ship, is responsible for fostering relationships within the Indo-Pacific Region.

Malaysia Emergency Response Team Conducts Rescue Exercise During PP19

The event gives local civil response units an opportunity to practice their reaction to a simulated flood disaster with the assistance of partner nation military personnel. Commander, Joint Region Marianas Briefs Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force

Tatsuhiko Takashima, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Fleet Submarine Force commander, center; and Rear Adm. Jimmy Pitts, Commander, Submarine Group 7 meet at the JRM Headquarters in Asan April 8. During his visit to Guam, Takashima viewed ships, facilities and sites on island including ship repair, quality-of-life facilities for submariners and partnership opportunities in the region.
