WATERS SOUTH OF JAPAN (Dec. 4, 2018) Cmdr. Leroy Mitchell, commanding officer of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65), greets Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Chief Operations Specialist Hideki Okubo, assigned to the JMSDF destroyer JS Hyuga (DDH-181), in the captain’s cabin during a tour aboard Benfold. USS Barry Leaves Dry Dock Period

Tom Shultz, commanding officer of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20), converse in the helicopter tower of the Green Bay during a tour. Green Bay is in Port Moresby to assist with security efforts ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference and is the second U.S. ship to visit Port Moresby in the last two months. Green Bay is part of Amphibious Squadron 11 and is operating in the region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
