USS Ronald Reagan begins the second round of COVID-19 vaccinations

YOKOSUKA, Japan (Feb. 2, 2021) Machinist’s Mate (Nuclear) 1st Class Brian Busby, assigned to the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), receives the second shot of the COVID-19 vaccine on Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY). Medical personnel and strategic forces were the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Ronald Reagan returned to Yokosuka in November 2020 following a six-month deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.

TAIWAN STRAIT - The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) is conducting routine underway operations in support of stability and security for a free and open Indo-Pacific. McCain is forward-deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

The forward presence of Rafael Peralta, a Flight IIA destroyer that can deploy with 2 MH-60 variant helicopters and also has improved ballistic missile defense, anti-air and surface warfare capabilities compared to its predecessor, enhances the national securi-ty of the United States and improves its ability to protect strategic interests.
