USS Ronald Reagan Begins COVID-19 Vaccinations

210108-N-LI114-1045 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Jan. 8, 2021) Master-at-Arms 3rd Class Brandon Johnson, assigned to the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), receives the COVID-19 vaccine on Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY). Medical personnel and strategic forces were the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Ronald Reagan returned to Yokosuka in November 2020 following a six-month deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility. Andersen Air Force Base (Jan. 12, 2021) A Patrol Squadron (VP) 5 P8-A Poseidon aircraft arrives in Guam for Sea Dragon 2021 Jan. 12. Sea Dragon is an annual multi-lateral anti-submarine warfare exercise that improves the interoperability elements required to effectively and cohesively respond to the defense of a regional contingency in the Indo-Pacific, while continuing to build and strengthen relationships held between nations.

U.S. 7th Fleet Sailors Receive COVID Vaccine

210105-N-VD554-2001 YOKOSUKA, Japan - Vice Adm. Bill Merz, Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet receives the COVID-19 vaccine at U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka. Medical personnel and strategic forces were the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine over the past week at Naval Hospital Yokosuka. This is part of the DoD’s phased vaccine rollout for voluntary inoculations across the force, including the 7th Fleet’s Forward Deployed Naval Forces.  As the U.S. Navy's largest forward deployed fleet, with its approximate 50-70 ships and submarines, 140 aircraft, and 20,000 Sailors in the area of operations at any given time, 7th Fleet conducts forward-deployed naval operations in support of U.S. national interests throughout a free and open Indo-Pacific area of operations to foster maritime security, promote stability, and prevent conflict alongside 35 other maritime nations and partners. HSC 25 Conducts Hoist Evolutions with French Partners in the Indo-Pacific

PHILIPPINE SEA (Dec. 10, 2020) Naval Air Crewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class Robert Washington, from Birmingham, Mich., assigned to the “Island Knights” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25, secures a litter during hoist training with French Loire-class tender, and support vessel FS Seine (A 604) to ensure both nations maintain proficiency in personnel recovery while out at sea. HSC-25, the Navy’s only forward-deployed expeditionary helicopter sea combat squadron, provides a multi-mission rotary wing capability for units in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations and maintains a Guam-based 24-hour search and rescue and medical evacuation capability, directly supporting the U.S. Coast Guard and Joint Region Marianas.
