CTF 72 Hosts Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet

Bill Merz, commander of U.S. 7th Fleet, meets with Yeoman Specialist 3rd Class Kailin Carter during a visit to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 72. The “World Famous Pelicans” P-8 squadron is based out of Naval Air Station Jacksonville.  CTF 72 leads patrol, reconnaissance and surveillance forces in support of U.S. 7th fleet.

EAST CHINA SEA (Oct. 30, 2019) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69) sails in the East China Sea. Milius is underway conducting operations in the Indo-Pacific region while assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.

NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner stations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.

YOKOSUKA, Japan (Nov. 07, 2019) Rear Adm. Brent Scott, Navy Chief of Chaplains, talks to Sailors from Japan during a town hall at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka chapel. During his visit, Rear Adm. Scott toured ships moored at Yokosuka, spoke with Sailors and held a town hall to talk about the way forward for the religious ministry community in accordance with the Department of the Navy Strategic Plan for Religious Ministry.

191101-N-AD347-0141 SASEBO, Japan (November 01, 2019) Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force sailors from Hirashima-class Mine Countermeasures ship, Hirashima MSC 601 use a simulator program to practice driving a mine neutralization vehicle in order to hone their skills and mine hunting aboard Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Pioneer (MCM 9). Pioneer, part of Mine Countermeasures Squadron 7, is operating in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response platform for contingency operations.

Byrd (T-AKE 4) steams alongside the Indian Navy's anti-submarine warfare corvette INS Kiltan (P 30) during a replenishment at sea. The U.S. Navy regularly operates with allies and partners, both bilaterally and multilaterally to promote security and stability throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
