Deputy Prime Minister of Australia Visits USS Ronald Reagan

CORAL SEA (July 17, 2019) Capt. Patrick Hannifin, commanding officer of the Navy’s forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), greets Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack, deputy prime minister of Australia, on the flight deck during Talisman Sabre 2019. McCormack was among a group of dignitaries including the Honorable Sharon Hudson Dean, U.S. Consul General and Vice Adm. Michael Noonan, Chief of the Australian Navy who were given a tour of the hangar bay and flight deck control before observing flight operations. Talisman Sabre 2019 illustrates the closeness of the Australian and U.S. alliance and the strength of the military-to-military relationship. This is the eighth iteration of this exercise.

Fighting Tigers Participate in Guam Exercise

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam (July 10, 2019) The “Fighting Tigers” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 8 conduct Anti-Submarine Warfare operations with USS Milius (DDG 69), during Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare Readiness and Evaluation Measurement (SHAREM) 199. VP-8 is deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet (C7F) area of operations conducting maritime patrol and reconnaissance operations in support of Commander, Task Force 72, C7F, and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command objectives throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

John P. Bobo (T-AK 3008) during lift on lift off (LOLO operations. The integration of active and reserve Navy Cargo Handling Battalions, Naval Beach Group 1, and Maritime Prepositioning Ships Squadron (MPSRON) 3 for INLS LOLO increases Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) interoperability, proficiency and theater familiarization in support of any contingency in the Indo-Pacific.

Guam Senators, Military Leaders Visit Endangered Species at Northwest Field

DEDEDO Guam (July 12, 2019) - Guam Sens. Sabina Perez, left, and Clynton Ridgell, center, view the endangered Serianthes nelsonii tree during a site visit at Northwest Field in Dededo July 12. At the request of Sen. Tina Muna Barnes, speaker of the 35th Guam Legislature, Rear Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, commander, Joint Region Marianas and a team of Navy and Marine Corps environmental professionals led a senatorial visit to the site of the 
endangered Serianthes nelsonii tree at Northwest Field.  The group received a briefing from Marine Corps Activity Guam (MCAG) Environmental Director Al Borja and MCAG Natural Resources Specialist Lauren Gutierrez, and saw 
firsthand the military's commitment to environmental stewardship in the 
preservation of the island's ecosystem.

190711-N-WI365-1052 TASMAN SEA (July 11, 2019) – The amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) sails in formation behind the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85), center, the Royal Australian Navy Canberra-class landing helicopter dock HMAS Canberra (L02), left, the U.S. Navy Los Angeles-class submarine attack USS Key West (SSN 722), far left, and the U.S. Navy’s Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), during Talisman Sabre 2019. Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is currently participating in Talisman Sabre 2019 off the coast of Northern Australia. A bilateral, biennial event, Talisman Sabre is designed to improve U.S. and Australian combat training, readiness and interoperability through realistic, relevant training necessary to maintain regional security, peace and stability.

USS John S. McCain Sailors Honored for Damage Control Efforts Following 2017 Collision

YOKOSUKA, Japan (July 2, 2019)  Adm. John Aquilino, commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet speaks to the ship's crew during an awards ceremony recognizing 50 Sailors who distinguished themselves for their bravery and contributions to damage control efforts during the 2017 collision aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), currently berthed at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan. McCain was commissioned on July 2, 1994 in Bath, Maine and was originally named in honor of Admirals John S. McCain Sr. and Jr. In a rededication ceremony on July 12, 2018 the late Sen. John S. McCain III was officially added to the namesake.
