USS Green Bay, 31st MEU Arrive in Thailand for Cobra Gold

GULF OF THAILAND (Feb. 7, 2019) – Assault amphibious vehicles (AAV), assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), depart the well deck of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) in preparation for Exercise Cobra Gold 2019. Cobra Gold is a multinational exercise co-sponsored by Thailand and the United States that is designed to advance regional security and effective response to crisis contingencies through a robust multinational force to address common goals and security commitments in the Indo-Pacific region.

SINGAPORE (Jan. 26, 2019) Quartermaster Seaman Cesar Vallejauregui, from San Diego, raises the Singapore national flag aboard the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) during a port visit to Singapore while on a deployment of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). The Essex ARG/ 13th MEU is a capable and lethal Navy-Marine Corps team deployed to the 7th fleet area of operations to support regional stability, reassure partners and allies and maintain a presence postured to respond to any crisis ranging from humanitarian assistance to contingency operations.

FLEACT Yokosuka provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and more than 27,000 military and civilian personnel.
